Pivot Table of Audit Findings

Previous item Previous menu

Running "StringPivotTable" Macro

The summary about internal control problems should contain only most important findings. In this case findings of importance 3 are excluded from the analysis. Audit findings classification of the previous site is complemented, too: code of importance is added after each finding in brackets [1].
There is an Excel macro that helps in arranging the classified findings for analysis: StringPivotTable. It is introduced on another page of this home page. We run the macro.

Results

Below there is a pivot table made by the macro, after rotation of row headings and change of background color of cells where there are findings of highest importance (1). Explanation of codes [in the table] are on the site Findings Classification Scheme (The ECAR Model Objectives and Elements).

Conclusion

When putting emphasis on importance of findings [2] one could make the following conclusion: biggest problems of internal control concern on one hand internal control objective "Compliance", and on the other hand control element "Control Environment".

[1] The scale used in classifying importance of the findings is on the site Findings Classification Scheme (Importance of a Finding). There is a function "Concatenate" in Excel that is ideal for adding a code after each finding.
[2] We can calculate the general importance of findings in accordance with the following: importance '1' gets 9 points; '2' gets 6 points and '1' gets 1 point.
