Files on this web site are intended to provide information about CAATs and internal control. Writings are based on my professional experience both as an independent auditor and as an internal auditor.

CaatsScripts

There is much about IDEA (Interactive Data Extraction and Analysis) on these pages. I have used IDEA since its early DOS-versions. IDEAScript has helped me to add new functionality in standard IDEA versions [1]. During the years I have made dozens of MS-DOS programs to fix and re-arrange files - and have been able to import to IDEA any file I wanted. Later I have been more interested in Excel macros.

The ECAR internal control model

Due to by professional background I have been interested in auditing, internal control, risk management, and corporate gorvernance. I have launched two publications: Tehtävänä valvonta (in Finnish), and ECAR internal control model (in English). I hope that the latter will contrubute to better understanding of internal control and give birth to new useful ideas about it, including internal control of the financial audit process.

[1] E.g. CROMM macro (for making pivot tables) in 2000. However, you cannot do anything with IDEAScript - such as showing data of a colomn shown on several lines ("wrap"). Both "Pivot tables" and "Wrap" have been included in IDEA (2002; 2006) at my suggestions. My latest suggestion concerns using fuzzy logic in search (see my Text Search Macro).
